Charles Bruce serves as the Associate Medical Director for Mayo Clinic Ventures, as well as Director for Business Development in the Center for Regenerative Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Florida. He is a practicing cardiologist as well as a researcher, inventor, and professor of Medicine. His unique perspective into the challenges of health care delivery are shaped by his medical experiences in South Africa and the United States. Dr. Bruce is an accomplished innovator who helped create five start-up companies. He holds 18 issued patents for medical inventions.

Maarten Rotman runs the Florida campus branch of the Mayo Clinic Office of Entrepreneurship, and is responsible for the formal entrepreneurship education of Mayo Clinic employees and LSI members.  Dr. Rotman has a neuroscience background, with postdoctoral research experience in Alzheimer’s disease and pre-clinical brain tumor research in the departments of Neuroscience and Neurological Surgery at Mayo Clinic, and the departments of Human Genetics and Radiology at the Leiden University Medical Center in the Netherlands.

Operations Manager

Catherine Kendall is the Operations Manager for the LSI. She is responsible for incubator management, external network management, coordination and onboarding of client companies, excellent customer service, formalization of policies and procedures, and event coordination. Combined with nearly ten years of experience in healthcare, she possesses her master’s in international business management with a focus in healthcare administration. Prior to her role in the LSI, she was the program coordinator for Mayo’s concierge medicine department, the Medallion Program.

Shawn Robinson, M.S.

Project Portfolio Manager

Shawn Robinson is the Project Portfolio Manager for the Life Sciences Incubator (LSI). Shawn is responsible for providing commercialization guidance and project planning assistance for projects accepted into the LSI program with concentration on providing assistance to internal Mayo clients. He has his BS in Mechanical Engineering and MS in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Akron. Shawn has spent his entire 18+ year career working with new product development helping to bring new ideas/products to market and adding value through the creation of IP. He has previously worked at Zimmer Biomet, Tornier Inc., Spinal Elements, Integra LifeSciences and Kinetikos Medical Inc.
